SLJ 2021 Week 1

 Hello World Of Bloggers,

This Week our Summer Learning Journey has started and we started of with making things that flies. I watched a video of Nano Girl and she showed us how to make things that flies. We used coloured paper, scissors, ruler, a pencil, and tape. The first thing I made was a paper air plane, I then made a ring glider and a hoop. After I made them, I tested them. The tricky thing was putting the tape on the paper because I had to hold the paper and try tape the tape on the paper. I tested every one of them, and the paper plane went the furthest. But I really liked the hoop glider because it went smoothly. The ring glider went up high but it didn't go any further, it just went down as soon as it got high. The paper plane kept curving and it was kind of like the hoop glider. But the best was definitely the hoop glider. Thank you for checking out my blog and feel free to comment. Visual Crossword Art

Last time I talked to you guys about this site call google education. But this one is Arts And Culture, and my teacher showed us about this activity called Visual Crossword Art. I really enjoyed this activity because I got to see the Visual Art. But the thing is that my hand hurt from moving the pictures. But I really enjoyed this activity because I like art and drawing. The thing I liked the most was clicking on the art works and reading the information about the art. There is many levels that you can do, each level becomes harder and harder until you reach the end. Back To School

On Wednesday, some people from school returned back from school after from being in Lock down. I went back to school on Wednesday and I'm gonna tell you guys about my experience. I felt good being back to school but I was excited at the same time because my class got upgraded and I couldn't wait to see my new class room. There was only 9 people who showed up to school on Wednesday. The first thing we did is do the roll and check, we then showed up to breakfast and we got went straight back to class. Each class had to go to get breakfast in the hall at once. After that we did some talking about the rules and about how school was going to like.

 We then play musical statues. There would be music and we would dance along with it, when the music stops we have to freeze. If we wouldn't freeze we would be eliminated and out of the game. After we played games, the games we played was a instrumental game. We had to play sounds with our body. We did this other game similar to the instrumental game, a person would stay outside and come back in. Everyone goes in a circle and a leader is chosen and does sounds with their body and everyone has to copy. The person who goes outside has to guess who's the leader. We then heard more information about how school was going to be.

We then ate and played and we joined the google class meet. We then continued on with our work and then we played for lunch time. We ate our lunches. School then ended and then we went home. 

Lock Down

Kia Ora,

I am going to be talking to you guys about my favourite part about Lock down. We're still in level 3.2 in Auckland in New Zealand. During Lock down I baked some cakes with my mum and my sister. We gave it out to our family members. We had lots of cake ingredients to make cake to we wanted to make use of it. I also watched the rugby game of Argentina and New Zealand. New Zealand won the game. I enjoyed going shopping with my mum and my dad. I played outside with my older sister and older brother with the Frisbee. I enjoyed going on bike rides with my brothers, and seeing Hasti on her electric scooter. I played Blooket and Kahoot with my class on google meets. I lastly enjoyed going to the park with my siblings and my mum for walks. My favourite part of Lock down was going on bike rides with my brothers and baking cake with my mum and my sister. And also my favourite part of Lock down was playing Blooket and Kahoot with my class on google meets. But now I'm at school with only 11 people including me. Thank you for reading my Blog.

The Monarch Show

One Tuesday the whole entire school went to the school hall to watch a Monarch Show. The show was about butterflies. We sat on the mat and we waited. The show had started and we had been waiting. In the show there was a grandma who was a scientist and a granddaughter. The granddaughter  was practicing her speech for her school show. She was studying about  butterflies. Her grandma was about to go to a meeting and the granddaughter was introducing her. But before grandma the scientist left the granddaughter and she does super cool moves. The grandma leaves and granddaughter Lea keeps practicing her speech. She hears a big loud fart noise that annoys her, a big wasp comes in and Lea is afraid it might sting her or anything. The wasp scares Lea so much that she even hides from the wasp, the wasp groans and says so many things about herself. Lea introduces herself and the wasp introduces itself. 

They talk and the wasp leaves, then Lea leaves and the grandma comes back. The grandma does her own thing and a lady wearing all pink clothes and pink high heels goes into the house with her car and introduces herself to the grandma. She scares grandma scientist off and she falls. The lady’s name was Mrs Collywood, she told grandma scientist that she will never be able to stop her from making underground tunnels and pipes. The grandma talks to her and then Mrs Collywood gets a phone call about her grandma, she rushes back to her grandma and grandma scientist says bye. Lea comes back and she sees that grandma is back home. Grandma makes a phone call to stop Mrs Collywood, Lea keeps practicing her speech, Lea’s grandma leaves and Lea hears the weird loud fart sound again, the wasp comes back and talks about what happened to her, the wasp leaves and Lea thinks about more things to say.  Lea leaves again and Mrs Collywood comes back when grandma just done the phone call, grandma is shocked and Mrs Collywood scares grandma again. She falls and Mrs Collywood goes on grandma’s legs and acts like she is a butterfly. They talk and they fight.

 Mrs CollyWood then ties up grandma scientist and she gets a phone call and says sorry to grandma scientist and leaves. Lea comes back and grandma tells her everything that happened. My favourite part about the Monarch show is when Lea and grandma scientist do these really cool moves. And when Mrs Collywood and grandma scientist does this really cool move.

The Lion's Cage

Today Adsett class watched a couple of some short silent movies and I chose The Lion's Cage. And my teacher said that we have to write about what you think of whats happening in the movie clip.

I think the movie was about a man was being chased by a horse. The man then runs into a cage and decides to go into the cage, he then runs into a lion sleeping. He freaks out and doesn't know what to do. He tries to be as quiet as possible in case the lion wakes up. He tries to open the door quietly from outside, he reaches around the bars and then he ends up pushing the lock and he gets locked up inside the cage. He reaches a banner from his pocket and tries to ask for help. He opens another tiny door to a other room with a tiger in it, the tiger growls at him and he then shuts the door in horror. He looks around for a way to get out and then he bumps into a tray of water. He catches it just in time when it was about to touch the ground. He sees a dog and the dog barks at him, he tells the dog to quiet down because the lion was going to wake up.

He tries to kick the dog but the dog bites his leg and pulls it. Then a lady came and asked what was happening then the man told her the man told the lady to open the door quick but the dog bites the lady´s leg and the lady faints. The man tries to spill water on the dog so it can go away but the lion wakes up and stands up and sniffs the man. The man stays still and the lion walks away calmly. The lion goes back to sleep and then the lady woke up, the lady opened the door and she closes the door. The man said he could handle it but when he walked closer to the lion the lion growled in anger. He ran out of the cage in terrified. The lady followed him and when she looked up she saw the man hanging up the pole. The man said he was alright then he danced his way down the pole.

2020 Tokyo Olympic Fan zone Trip

Hello Bloggers,

Today the senior classes and my class went to the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Fan zone in the city. We all got into 2 buses. Paterson class had to go on our bus and Miller went on another bus. When we arrived we saw a white round long dome. When we went inside it was big and huge. We also got black wristbands on the way in. And then we went to the big screen where the Olympian Debbie Tanner was sitting on a chair with another person. There was also another school there and they were sitting quietly. We sat on the fake green grass mat, Debbie introduced herself and then we asked her some questions. Then she asked us some questions and if we get the answer right we get a prize. Then my class and Paterson class got sent to the gaming area. And the other school went to the sports game area. Besi and I both did the same games and we also played with Salote my cousin who was from our school too. We then swapped and my class was with Paterson class again and Miller class went to where the skate board is, the skate board name was Eke Tari. We had so much fun but then Paterson and my class got sent to the skate board, we took photos and then we got theses book let papers with questions in them. Me and Besi answers some of them, we went to where the bean bags were and we all sat on the ground and on the bean bags. We watched the Olympians race, we clapped and cheered for NZL team, they came second. We got out of the building and we went back on the buses and said bye to the people and the workers.

In the holidays - T2

 Hi bloggers,

During Holidays on Thursday my sister and I went to my cousin's house with my brother Pita. We went there because my mum and my oldest brother Patrick went to Christchurch and my dad was doing work. When we arrived my uncle and auntie were getting ready to go somewhere, my sister and I had to go with them with my little baby cousin and my other cousin Mary. My brother and my cousin stayed home. We went in a family car. We then went to Pak N save to get groceries. My cousin and my sister and I went to get things for my auntie and uncle for them to cook something for dinner. My auntie let us get some snacks, we got chips because we didn't want to get sweets or anything. When we got out of Pak N save we all helped our uncle and auntie put the groceries in the car. After that we went to get some ice, then we went back home safely and we gave my brother and our cousin our leftover snacks because we forgot to get them their own snacks. I really enjoyed looking out the window and seeing the trees and nature and going shopping.

Riding Bikes lessons

This week my class and the senior classes had a biking lesson. On Tuesday my class and the senior classes had our first senior biking lesson. On Tuesday I wasn't at school because I was sick so I didn't know what my class was doing at the biking lesson. On Wednesday I was at school because I was feeling better and I wasn't sick anymore. On Wednesday my class had another senior biking lesson and I was there, the juniors didn't have biking lessons because the teachers thought it would be dangerous. First the people that knew how to ride a bike they had to separate from the people that didn't know how to ride a bike. The people that didn't know how to ride a bike had to go with Josh the man, Josh was also new. And the people that knew how to ride a bike had to go with Lani the lady. I was one of the people that knew how to ride a bike. I got a random bike because they coaches said if there were people weren't at school on Tuesday can get any bike. I got a silver and navy blue bike, the people that didn't know how to ride a bike had to learn how to. The other group played games and I was in it. We played a couple of games. The first game was just riding around the court and the coach had to tell us to do something, the game was called orange light, green light and red light and if the coach says red light we have to stop and if you don't stop you have to do a punishment. When the coach says orange light we have to glide or slow down and for green light is just normal riding but we had to ride carefully. And we did other games. And before we started riding the bikes they asked us what was the rules, I didn't know because I wasn't at school on Tuesday but I knew the rules because they told us. The rules were to respect, have fun, and listen.

Subway - Kainga Ora

Today my class ate Subway. My teacher wanted my class to do this survey about our neighbourhood. This survey was last term so my class had to wait for a very long time. My class found out when my teacher and my class was playing hang man. My class was guessing out the words my teacher wrote, my class and I won and it said we won subway. My class was so happy and excited to have Subway, at first my class was confused because we thought it was like going through the subway but my teacher told us what she meant. We waited for a very long time and my class didn't know when we were getting our Subway. My teacher said that we were getting our Subway today. When the eating bell rang after lunch time play my class went to our class room. Me and Jaymalyn and Neha and Alisi were in the library helping putting up stars for Matariki so we cleaned up the library and went to our class room. My teacher handed out the Subway lunches and she took pictures of us, Miss Campbell came in with someone named Kalla she told us about what we want in our community. 

 

We took a picture and after we took another picture with other people who came in. After everyone ate, for our lunch we had a small bottle of water and had a sandwich and a chocolate chip cookie. Everyone ate and the people that came into the class room went, we said good bye and said thank you to them and to Kalla for giving our class Subway. The wonder Project Week 9 - Final launch and blast off

This week the senior classes had another Wonder Project session, everyone was so happy because they haven't had a Wonder Project session in a very long time. My class got ready got ready when the bell rang after morning tea, some groups from my class had their wings off. My class and room 9 went over to room 8, it was a little squashy but everyone managed to fit in altogether, Mrs Shrestha asked Neha from room 8 to say her speech to Colm, Neha said her speech and after she gave Colm a present and a little bag. Mrs Shrestha showed Colm and a video of her class saying compliments to Colm and telling him how much he did and other nice things. Mrs Shrestha said that my class had something to show Colm too. Mrs Odean my teacher asked Keti if she could do her speech and give Colm our card my class made. Our card had pictures of Colm and the senior classes, and everyone in our class wrote a short nice letter to Colm. We went over the safety rules and then we made sure that the rockets that went the further the most was good. The classes went back to their class. My class didn't go to our class, my teacher leaded us to Keith Hay Park and we got ready and prepared.

Everyone in my class sat down and my teacher asked a group to come up. We cheered and clapped, everyone counted down from 5 and shouted blast off. After it was my group's turn my group 45 PSI and for the water level it was 250. Everyone counted down from 5 and we shouted blast off. We cheered and clapped, when the rocket landed Mayank got a yellow flag and ran to where our bottle and placed the flag and Mayank took the bottle. When everyone got a turn the teachers and some students measured how far each team's bottle went with the flags, they got a measuring tape and measured it. Everyone got their turn so everyone packed up and safely got back into the school. When every class got back into their classes people in my class wrote up how long our rocket's went, my group's rocket was 27.30 m the group that went the most further was the five missioners. Their flag was blue and their rocket went up to 37.30 m. The rocket Inqu got the same as us and their flag was red. Thank you for reading my blog!

My teacher really wanted my class to do something fun. So she wanted my class to create our own Tane Mahuta art on google drawing, we also did trees and mountains. My teacher said that we could do a beautiful view or a sun set or any background. Here is mine I hope you guys like it!

The wonder Project - Week 7 modification

 Hello World Of Bloggers,

This week on Tuesday for The Wonder Project the senior classes and my class had another Wonder Project session but this time the senior class and my class didn't meet in the hall or in room 9. Each class stayed in their own classes and my class was talking about how each group was going to improve on our rockets. My group glued on our wings because they fell off, my teacher saw that my group's nose cone was cricket so she told us that we needed to take of our nose cone off and put it on again but straight. When we were done my teacher then noticed that one of our wings wasn't the same length as our other two wings so my group had to take one of our wings of and glue it back on but it had to be the same length as the other two wings. Me and Sacha waited for our turn to glue our wing back on, we measured it to make sure that it was the same length as the other two wings. After we were done we checked if everything on our rocket was done, we saw that nothing was wrong my group talked about what was going to be our PSI and what was going to be our water level. After we talked about what were the rules and everything we learnt.

My Unbelievable Boat Animation

The Extraordinary Artist

                            The Artist

One day there lived a young teenager named George. He wanted to draw a ship and make it come to life so he pushed all his homework away and focused on drawing his ship. After spending hours, night, and days of drawing his ship George finally finished drawing and sketching his masterpiece. He stood up and took a few steps behind and looked at his art work proudly, he had never been so proud of himself. After taking a look at his art work George did his magic and said his magic word, a huge strong gust of wind fluttered through his room, George was scared of the wind but was so happy to see his magic words work.

 George adored this moment, he loved seeing his beautiful amazing creations come to life. George’s ship became bigger and bigger until it stopped right at his knee, he couldn’t be any happier. George then wanted to draw a bear for his little sister Leah. George was excited to see his sister’s reaction, the next day George got all his sketch pencils out and got his textured paper out and he started straight away without talking to his friends. He saw his sister walk into his room, he quickly hid his art work under his bed the moment his sister walked in his sister asked what he was doing and George said that he just finished his homework.

 Leah then said okay and walked out the room, George was nearly done so he was happy but when he took out his art work from under his bed he saw that his art work was smushed. George was devastated to see his art work smushed he felt tears coming down from his eyes. He wiped it away and then decided to make a new one. George was sad but didn’t want it to ruin the time after hours and nights he finally finished, he did his magic and the teddy bear came to life. He gave his teddy bear to Leah, Leah was so happy and hugged him, he was happy that Leah liked his teddy bear.

Wonder project - Test flight launch 2

This week for The Wonder Project my class and me and the senior classes had another Wonder Project session. After morning tea all the senior classes gathered up in room 9 and we then watched a video about what was Newton's third law and it was about reaction and action. After that Mrs Eagleson and the teachers from each class picked a student to volunteer to blow a balloon. My teacher Mrs Odean picked Leah and Ahmed and Mrs Shrestha picked Elijah and Jeziah and Mrs Eagleson picked Mila and Martha. When they blew the balloons Leah was shy so Mrs Odean picked Lovely to blow the balloon. After they were done they made sure that each balloon was the same size as the other balloon. Everyone counted down from 3 and the volunteers let go of their balloon, we cheered and clapped and Mila's balloon was small but went the highest. Then the next round Elijah and Jeziah's balloons had to be large and big and Ahmed and Lovely's balloons had to be medium and Martha and Mila's balloon's had to be small.

When we counted down from 3 everyone of the volunteers let go of their balloon and Elijah's balloon went the highest and touched the ceiling, Lovely's balloon nearly touched the ceiling. Everyone went over the rules again in case no one doesn't remember the rules. We also went over the safety rules, we then went back to our class rooms and my class room got everything we needed and walked to keith hay park. After that we got ready and we got ready to test launch our rocket we cheered and clapped, when it was my group's turn my group and I decided to put the water level up to 350 ml and the PSI was 30. We then counted down from 3 and when the bottle went up we clapped and cheered. Then the second time my group did the water level the same and the PSI was 40. We then counted down from 3 and cheered and clapped. After that everyone went back into school and play.

The Wonder Project - Aerodynamics Week 5

 Hello World Of Bloggers,

Today this week me & my class and the senior classes had another lesson & it was about aerodynamics again but this time it was about balance and fixing up some mistakes we did. Everyone got told to get into their groups and talk about what what we learnt last week and the week before after we were we watched a video then Mrs Odean came up to the stage to tell us more further information about aerodynamics. Our class went to class and our teacher showed us the steps. First our step was to get a piece of string and make your rocket balance then we would tie up and get a vivid to mark it. Then a the other step was to trace your rocket around cardboard and cut it out. Me, Sacha, Mayank, Mehdi, and Amelia helped each other get the string to the middle of the bottle and trace. After that me and my group made sure the fins were equal and then we took of the tapes on the wing and then hot glued it. Then I traced the bottle while Sacha was holding it. After that me and Sacha then cut around the piece of cardboard after we were done we put it in the black box and we were done.

  

The Wonder Project - Lesson 4 - Building and making rockets

 Hello Bloggers, 

Today me and my class and the senior classes had another lesson of The Wonder Project. We all went to the hall and sat down. One of the teachers told us all about aerodynamic, we also watched a video of what Newton's second law. Newton's second law was F=ma, the F is for force and the M is for mass and A alteration. Then Cole came up to the stage to test flight paper air planes. He then chose 3 volunteers to test flight it. Then everyone got A4 paper to make their own paper plane after that everyone got to test flight their paper planes. Then Cole chose people to test flight their planes in front of everyone. Everyone went back to their classes and got in to their groups to build their rockets. My group used cardboard for they wings and used 2 2.5 litre bottles to create our rocket. We cut off the top head of the bottle and added it to the bottom of the bottle to my the nose cone. Me and my group then taped the nose cone and the wings. After my group got another bottle and wrote our group name on it.

The wonder project - Newton's first law ( Session 3 )

Today for this week my class and me had another Wonder Project today with the senior classes. We learnt about Newton's first law, we watched a video about Newton and then we did a couple of fun tricks with 1.5 litre bottles. We got bottles filled with water, half way and empty bottles. My class and I went back to our class room and watched a video of what was Newton's first law was. We designed our own rocket with bottles using paper. My group had to choose someone from our team to present their drawing or people could borrow different designs from other people from your team. My team chose my bottle because it had good wings and it also had good designs. 

 

Auckland Zoo Trip

 Hello Bloggers,

Today me and my class and the senior class went to Auckland Zoo. We went in buses to go to Auckland Zoo, when we arrived someone introduced herself to us and then she told us the rules and we went into our groups. First me and my group went and saw the orangutans and then we went and saw the siamangs. We went and looked at South America, Australia Bush Track, South East Asia, and Te Wao Nui. When it was 11:30 me and my group went back to near the domes and we had a snack. When it was 12:00, my class and the other senior class followed Lizzy the instructor we went and saw the Africa Safari Track, when we went there we saw the giraffes, zebras, ostrich's, nyala, meerkat, portcupine, leopard, tortoise, waterbuck, rhinoceros, flamingos, baboons, servals, lovebirds, and cheetahs. We also went and saw the Asian elephants, we didn't get to see the lions because they died we really wanted to see them but they got sick and died. After we were done everyone went to see the spider monkeys. Everyone ate again and then my group decided to go toilet before we go on to the bus. After that we went to play at the park that was close to us. After that we went back to where we were and said thank you to Izzy and said Bye. 

The wonder project - Test launch

This week for The Wonder Project our senior school classes looked at the health & safety. We were lucky to have Cole to help us with The Wonder Project. We watched a couple of videos from The Wonder Project about how to launch your rocket & what are the rules. We went onto Keith hay park to test our rockets to see of it works, we then had Justin & Keti as Cole's assistants. We had some booklets to complete with our teams and every time we complete a mission we get a sticker to put on our booklets.

The weather was rainy and windy, but everyone knew that we only has Cole on Tuesdays and without Cole we can't do The Wonder Project. Cole pumped the air pumper and set the PSI up to 60 because the rules were to only put the PSI up to 60 a less. We counted down from 5 and stayed back 3 meters because that was the rules. The rocket bottle went up high and went on the on the parking lot. Some one went carefully and got the bottle, we were all cheering. Then we did a couple more launching with the rockets.

Food of thought

Our senior school classes were so lucky to have Isabel from the Heart foundation to visit our school and teach us a program called Food of Thought. Last week our class had two sessions and this week is going to be our last session.

We learnt many kinds of facts about milk and milk products, fruits and vegetables, grain foods, and lean meat, poultry, seafood, eggs, legumes, beans, nuts, and seeds. These are everyday foods. Isabel also told us that kids are only supposed to have the amount of 5 teaspoons of sugar, me and my class was shocked about what Isabel told us because we all knew that us kids have been having more than 5 teaspoons of sugar.

We also read the labels at the back of cereal packets with groups, my class and I really enjoyed our food of thought sessions.

Stop plastic!

My teacher showed us a site about stop plastic ,Adestt class did writing about it. Here is my writing.

Why is plastic bad?

Plastic is bad because it can be bad for the ocean, the environment and the animals. There are 300,000,000 tonnes of plastic made every year and 800,000,000 plastic end up in the ocean. There can be even more plastic in the sea than sea creatures. People throw plastic on the beach without even knowing that there are 800,000,000 plastic in the sea.

Sea creatures and animals 

Thousands of sea creatures and animals have died by the plastic in the ocean. Animals die by plastic nearly almost every hour in the ocean. Plastic can be everywhere even in the ocean. There are 5.25 trillion pieces of plastic in the ocean. And of that mass there is 269,000 tons of plastic. That can kill nearly every single animal in the ocean.
